Kris Hammerstein --   Drums, Percussion & Vocals

“KJ”

I started playing drums for the first time at age 10, but gave it up for a while. Then I got serious again at age 14, when I moved to Elkhart, Indiana. I was trying to get into concert band and taught myself to read music with a few books and a practice pad. From there I stayed in band, playing drums and percussion, and eventually picked up a little piano, trumpet, French horn, and started singing in choir. My varied musical interest would lead me to jazz band, pep band, choir, jazz choir, percussion ensemble and orchestra.

After graduating from Concord High School, I began playing in local bands, from reggae to funk/rock, blues, metal, folk and oldies. Then I began playing bass guitar and saxophone. I have recently had the honor of performing with Sonny Geraci, lead singer for Climax (“Precious and Few”) and the Outsiders (“Time Won’t Let Me”), Charlie Thomas of the Drifters, Carl Gardner’s Coasters, The Chiffons, The Reflections, and Les Fradkin of Edison Lighthouse and White Plains.

My mother, father, brother and two sisters have always been very supportive of my music career. They’ve supported my dedication to music, and for this I am forever thankful!
