Then about in 1996 I discovered “Ole Harv” on WVPE, 88.1. Ole Harv turned me on to “Live Blues” in the local area. I was hooked. I’m a photographer (not by profession, just hobby). I would always have my camera with me when I went to listen to the Blues. I took lots of pictures and soon my collection grew to enormous proportions. I was doing CD covers and promotional pictures for some local groups, and as far away as Chicago. I also write and photograph for “Big City Rhythm and Blues” in Detroit, MI. And I do WVPE’s Blues calendar on the web. I’ve been to the W.C. Handy Awards in Memphis, TN. with backstage and press passes 2 times. For the first time last year I went to the “King Biscuit Blues Festival” in Helena, AR with Ole Harv and Sistah Armiad. And hopefully one of these years I will get to go on the “Legendary Blues Cruise”.
About a year and a half ago Albertina, from the Midway Tavern, was telling me about this Blues band, the “FBI” and how good they were and wanted me to check them out. I finally got the chance and “WOW”! First of all when I got there they were playing “Make It Rain”, my bud Michael Burks song. Then they played “Baby Please” by my other bud Ronnie Baker Brooks. These guys are after my own heart! That’s all it took, they got me! Not only did they play some of my favorite artist but they played them well! I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t heard anything about these guys, and why they weren’t playing around town very much. “Big Daddy G”(Greg Price), asked me to help them out manage them. I said no at first, but he soon convinced me to do so. He knew of my connections thru WVPE radio and Ole Harv. They’ve been going strong ever sense, no thanks to me but to them. They work hard and strive to make every performance better than the last. It’s been an honor and a pleasure to work with and support this great bunch of guys!
